Methodology

This page documents how each calculator on Adad is built, what authoritative source its logic is based on, how often it is updated, and how the underlying data is verified. Every calculator page also displays its individual sources and "last updated" date directly under the tool — this page consolidates those references in one place for easy review.

The general principle: where the UAE government or a public utility publishes an official fee schedule, tariff, or formula, Adad implements that document literally. Where live market data is needed (gold spot, currency rates), the data provider is named and the timestamp shown. Where a calculation involves religious or scholarly judgement (zakat, prayer-time juristic method), the reference standard is named and the user is given the option to switch methods.

• Live data calculators (gold prices, currency exchange, UAE stocks): refreshed at the source provider's publish cadence — typically every 30 minutes to 1 hour. The provider and last-fetch timestamp are shown on the page.
• Monthly-rate calculators (UAE fuel prices): updated within 24 hours of the official monthly announcement (UAE fuel prices are announced at the start of each calendar month).
• Tariff / fee calculators (DEWA bills, visa fees, gratuity, business license, Salik tolls, Metro fares): reviewed against the official source quarterly, and within 7 days of any announced policy change.
• Astronomical calculators (prayer times, Hijri dates, qibla direction): the underlying algorithms do not change; the calendar method (Umm al-Qura, MWL, Egyptian, etc.) is selectable on the page, with the default for the UAE noted on each tool.
• Static reference data (UAE emergency numbers): reviewed against official sources monthly; corrected immediately if a number is reported as incorrect by a user.

If a calculator output disagrees with the official source it cites, the official source is treated as canonical and the calculator is corrected. Reports of errors should include the URL, the input that produced the wrong output, the expected output, and the official source supporting the expected value. Corrections to verified errors are typically applied within 48 hours.

Address corrections to [email protected]. The change log for each calculator is maintained internally; significant rate or formula changes are reflected in the page's "last updated" date.

Adad's calculators are informational estimates. They do not substitute for professional advice (legal, tax, financial, medical, or religious), official quotations, or the user's own due diligence with the relevant UAE authority. Edge cases, recent policy changes that have not yet been propagated to the calculator, and individual circumstances can produce results that differ from the official figure. Final binding figures should always be obtained from the relevant authority before any decision.
