UAE Stock Exchanges
The UAE has three main stock exchanges. The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) was established in 2000 and lists over 60 companies. The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) was established in 2000 and lists over 70 companies. NASDAQ Dubai (formerly DIFX) operates in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and lists international securities, bonds, and REITs.
How to Start Investing in UAE Stocks
- Obtain a National Investor Number (NIN) from DFM or ADX; this is free and can be done online.
- Open a trading account with a licensed UAE broker (e.g., Emirates NBD Securities, ADI Financial, Mubasher Financial).
- Fund your brokerage account via bank transfer.
- UAE residents and non-residents can invest in DFM and ADX stocks.
- Minimum investment: There is no minimum, you can buy as little as 1 share.
Trading Hours and Settlement
DFM and ADX operate Sunday to Thursday (UAE work week), 10:00 AM to 2:50 PM UAE time. Pre-opening auction runs from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM. Closing auction is from 2:50 PM to 3:00 PM. Settlement is T+2 (trade date plus two business days). NASDAQ Dubai operates 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
